Electronic journals library EZB

Online journals available in the ZHB are listed originally and constantly in the Electronic journals library EZB. This databank is used by more than 640 libraries (Apr. 2020) and was developed by the University library Regensburg in cooperation with the library of the Technical University München.

License conditions:

Please note that there are strict regulations for the online use of all these journals. It is only for personal purpose that you are allowed to download single articles.

Downloading of whole issues is not permitted.

The publishing houses check the download processes and if they find out violations of these rules the whole access may be closed.

So please respect the regulations in the interest of all other users.

EZB provides quick access to full text contents of journals.

You have to start searching the journal title (not the title of an article) or may as well enter with scrolling the journals arranged in subject groups or alphabetically.

By traffic light colours you are informed about the level of availability:

Green traffic light:: full text of the journal is freely available

Yellow traffic light: the journal is licensed by the participating library and so available for their users in full text

Yellow-red traffic light: the journal is licensed by the participating library for a certain period in which the full text isavailable for their users

Red traffic light: the journal is not licensed and therefore not available in full text, but normally table of contents and abstracts are available

The specific journal link will lead you to the full text.

Searching for journals you'll find different options, approaches, search keys helping you to arrange and improve your search.

You also may select other libraries to look for their journals collection.

Search tips:

If you chose a journal's link you will be taken to the publisher's server and it may happen that loading the page takes some time as well as the loading of more extensive articles.

Please always enter through the link provided by the EZB.

If you start directly with a journal's homepage the access to the full texts could be denied even though there is a library's subscription.

Some publisher's servers do interpret this as an external access and only accept the EZB's link as official full text access.

Some publishers have limited the number of users simultaneously accessing. It may occur once that this maximum number is reached, then try again later.

Through publisher's consortia the ZHB has access to journals beyond the usual faculties of the two Lübeck Universities. So don't be surprised about some „exotic“  journal titles you may find.

National licenses

With the support of the German Research Foundation (DFG), there are so-called national licenses for many journals and databases.

They are freely available online for ZHB users.

These journals are marked with a special note in the EZB.

They are often so-called journal archives (e.g. nature archives 1869-2009), in which the journal content is available in full text for a limited period of time.

In some databases, even individuals can register for national license products.

The link National Licenses Information Page provides an overview of offers and registration.
